Meditation sounds easy but it can be very challenging. You need to be able to clear your mind of any thoughts and attain the feeling of calmness. It is one way to relieve one of stress. Learning to meditate requires one to find a place that is quiet and free of distractions. Our minds are often engaged in so many thoughts and we barely know it sometimes until we try to empty it. And when that happens, we find it hard to not focus the things going on around us. This is why the first thing that you should do is find a place where you can be alone.
Find a place that you can be comfortable with. It can be inside your room where no one can enter and distract you. Sit on a chair or on the floor, depending on which area you are most comfortable with. Straighten you back and keep your head in a steady but comfortable position. Keep your hands on your lap. This will prevent you from touching the floor or anything else that will distract you. Learn how to do the breathing exercise before you start. Gentle and steady breathing is one of the key factors in meditation and even hypnotherapy. Your breathing will be the thing that you have to focus on in order to keep calm and to clear your mind. Don’t be impatient if your mind does not clear easily. You have to let it happen however long it will take. Practice every day. Meditation needs lot of practice before it can be perfected.
